Exercise update - shoulder pain

The past week I have been incredibly tired. Worrisome tired. I know nothing is actually wrong, but also don't know what's caused it. It's been better the last few days but it was really bad last Monday through Thursday. I woke up as tired as when I went to bed and slept every chance I had. My energy was never more than 5%, which was particularly terrible when I was at work.

During this time my shoulder was in more pain than it ever has been (it still is), and my other shoulder also became injured. I'm not sure if this had anything to do with how tired I was, but I can't imagine so. It all started the day after the Urban Combatives active shooter seminar I took up in Madison with Lee Morrison. I was fine the day of, but Suzy shoved me into the wall pretty hard on my bad shoulder when I wasn't ready. That I'll attribute to the new pain in the back of my shoulder, although I would have thought it'd be gone by now.

With all that said, I haven't done any exercise in a full week. I've literally just been sleeping and eating. My appetite is also incredibly high for some reason. Yesterday I was feeling okay enough to go on a short run with Jamie, which felt great, even in the 30 degree weather; and today I went to strength and conditioning class at Miss Pole and then Pole 5 afterward, both of which were with Kate.

I wasn't expecting to be able to do anything in either class, especially Pole 5 (I was just going to go to hang out with people), but I surprising could keep up! There were a few things in the strength I had to discontinue doing, and I couldn't do any sort of pull up climbs in Pole 5 due to the pain in my shoulder while doing it; but everything else was fine. It was also the first time I was in a class where I could literally do everything and not have to sit aside during a move a couldn't do. That felt pretty good, I must say. And Kate gave me some really great tips and alternative moves to work on, which was refreshing because I've only had Tiffany lately. Switching it up is beneficial!

Pole update 5 / Karate update 1

POLE This last weekend I took my first pole workshop with a traveling instructor. Even though I didn't find it overly helpful (or worth the money), I still consider it a milestone in my pole fitness journey. The instructor was Brynn Route, and we did a series of unconnected floor choreography sequences. I didn't find it very helpful because it wasn't applicable to anything else, and I really wanted to learn some actual pole tricks. If I'm paying $90 for a session, I want to get something out of it that I wouldn't from a regular class (or YouTube). One of the other girls, Jill, was struggling just as much as I was with a lot of the moves in the workshop (Brynn was super nice, but she only showed each complicated sequence twice without a breakdown before having us do it), which was fantastic in camaraderie. At the end of the workshop she turned to me and said, "you're so strong," which just made my life. I told her I didn't really know how to res...

Purgatory

Disney purgatory.            Writing purgatory.                          Job purgatory.  I feel like I've finally climbed to the top of the treehouse. Now I'm standing on the highest deck, looking out above the trees at the horizon, waiting to see if I'm getting a room in the house... or stepping onto the rope elevator back to the ground. It feels so close to one of them. This week is going to take forever.  It's really a 50/50 feeling. Maybe they'll accept me... maybe they won't. I'll have gotten all the way to the very end, and then let go. Let loose back in the cold, hard world of unemployment. The other Disney job, Stacy's old CT one, is still in the air; but Amy's also in the running, and I doubt I can outperform her. Although I do have Stacy's gold-star recommendation behind me, so I'm not going to give up.  Hopefully, it doesn't go that far, though. Hopefu...

January 19: Rennigers, Mt. Dora, and FARTS

Twice a year the big flea market in Mt. Dora does a really big version. The event (or location?) is called Rennigers. Today was the first day of it's first event (it's a 3-day event). Bryan invited me to go up with him, and we left around 9:45am. It was fun, even though it started raining again in the afternoon; and I bought a pair of earrings, elephant planter, and 9x9 baking pan for Oma's apple cake. This was a table I really liked at the market. If I had a wood shop, I could make it. The elephant planter, looking fabulous. It's the same one we had growing up! Then we went to Mt. Dora and got drinks at an upstairs cafe. He got a lavender latte, which he didn't like, and I got a lavender steamer, which was delicious. We wandered over to the park with the boardwalk and lighthouse. It's the smallest lighthouse I've ever seen. Not sure if it was ever functional, but it's on a "port" where boats dock, so maybe. We saw an anhinga eating a big fish ...
