Skiing for the First Time in 15 years

Literally, 15 years. I think the last time I went, I was 17 or 18.

A few years ago I decided that I wanted to give skiing another shot. So two or three weeks ago I asked Mark, Maggie, Lea, and Andy if I could join them skiing at Cascade (they said yes, of course). Andy had never done it before, which was great for me because then I could relearn with him and stick to the easy courses with no pressure. Mark also skied, but Lea and Maggie snowboarded. At one point Lea fell backwards down the hill and hit her head pretty badly. She stopped after that, and then Maggie gave up after she fell down on her butt one too many times.

To my credit, I never fell once, which is truly amazing. I always hated falling, so much so that if I did it, sometimes I wouldn't want to ski anymore. So I'm really glad I somehow managed to avoid that this time (seriously, how did that happen?).

Pole update: layback achieved!

I finally got my cross-ankle layback tonight! I wore my new Wonder Woman shorts so I'd have more grip in my thighs and followed the advice from a blog I recently read, which said to go into it from a reverse Superwoman. It worked! I was able to get it every time except for once, when I think it wasn't close enough to my crotch. And then because I was able to get the layback, I was able to work on bow and arrow and got it on the first try. After that, it was pretty easy to keep doing it (especially since my leg grip was so good). Also, my flag is looking better. I can raise both legs now pretty horizontally and hold them there for a while on both sides.  BOOYAKASHA!

January 18 - Being a therapist: 10 rides at Magic Kingdom

Sitting at The Whiskey on Sand Lake, waiting for Bryan. I took myself to Epcot, where it rained, and spent the entire day on the phone. Sea World Nick's finally hit wall with his Jeff problems and has accepted that he needs to see a counselor. That's good. Hopefully, Melody and I can become friends in the process.  We'll go go Magic Kingdom next to see the Country Bears before they're gone, but it feels good to not be at Disney for a second, even if it meant having to drive all the way back to Sand Lake and then drive back again.  No photos today.  LATER ADDITION: Despite it being really damp, rainy, cold, and puddly; and despite Bryan and I both being really tired (possibly because of drinking whiskey and wine, but also possibly because I was emotionally drained), Bryan and I somehow went on 10 rides at Magic Kingdom in 3 hours and closed out the park.  We didn't realize this until we were talking in the car later because we weren't rushing or even aiming to do...

Daily Journal

したこと: - Found out someone at work was trying to groom me to cheat on his wife with him, something he's tried before with other women at work, unsuccessfully.  - Had to sign paperwork with my boss in the room stating that I understand employees are allowed to have relationships with each other (I never questioned that) after someone claimed I made a statement I never did after they themselves made many compromising statements. Awkward situations abound now. But everyone has to work professionally and deal, and I better than anyone can do that.  - My boss handled the situation neutrally and incredibly respectfully. I felt incredibly supported by her in that moment and like she handled it very well. I appreciated her skills as a leader in that situation and am grateful. She closed the situation graciously.  - She also graciously checked in on my workload. It was one of the moments that made me remember when Christine actually felt like a great boss when I really liked workin...
